In treating trauma and PTSD, I adopt a compassionate and evidence-based approach that prioritizes safety, trust and empowerment. I focus on creating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where individuals feel comfortable exploring their traumatic experiences without feeling overwhelmed or re-traumatized. Assessment is crucial in understanding the nature and severity of the trauma and its impact on the individual's mental and emotional well-being. This may involve exploring the individual's trauma history, identifying triggers and assessing symptoms of PTSD such as intrusive thoughts, avoidance behaviors, negative cognitions and hyper-arousal. Additionally, I integrate mindfulness-based practices, relaxation techniques and grounding exercises to help individuals regulate their emotions and manage distressing symptoms in the present moment. Throughout the treatment journey, I provide ongoing support, validation and psycho-education to help individuals understand the effects of trauma on the mind and body, normalize their experiences and reduce feelings of shame or self-blame.
