Initially, a thorough assessment to understand the severity and specific symptoms of depression, as well as any underlying issues such as past trauma or concurrent medical conditions. Through CBT, individuals learn to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, develop healthy coping strategies and gradually increase engagement in meaningful activities.
